Final preparations are underway for our inaugural event of the fall season, the Autumn Arts Festival coming up soon on Saturday October 27th, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
The Norman Activity Center, at 526 East Commerce Street in Jacksonville, will be the center of festivities starting at 9:00 am with an opening ceremony and a welcome from Jacksonville Mayor Kenneth B. Melvin. Afterwards there will be live entertainment presented on two stages, with performing arts inside the Norman Activity Center, featuring the JHS Twirlers.
Continuous live music throughout the day will be provided on the outdoor stage by Amplified Music Productions, featuring Joe Teague’s Jazz Band and The Eric Moseley Duo during the morning hours. Afternoon acts will feature Patrick James, Withrow Cooley and Jacksonville’s own home grown group Plain Folks. Robin “Boogie” Butt will be our emcee and master of ceremonies on the music stage!
The Children’s Art Show will give Best of Show awards in five categories; from pre-school to college level. A free Make ‘Em and Take ‘Em booth allows kids to create a piece of art to take home. Many of our local artists from around Cherokee County will exhibit their unique works, with artwork and other one-of-a-kind items available for sale.
Meet and mingle with local artists Carol Meyers, Celeste Berry, Charles Brooks, Connie Sherman, Dolores Cribbs, Elizabeth Halpain, Evangalan Saye, Jacksonville Art Class, Janie Barber, Joel Nichols, Judy Seamands from Wall Work by Judy, Kimberly McDuff, Lamone Anderson, Leah Slider, Leigha Sherman, Leonardo Garcia, Maria Flores Skinner, Myrna Elevera, Pegasus Pottery, Ross Studios, Sam Starkey, Suzanne Espenlaub and Yoli Garcia.
Artist Demonstrations during the day include painting by Carol Meyers, and rug weaving by Jan Ott. Additional craft demonstrations will be given by Kim McDuff Lindsay from Tigerlillies, and Rev. Fred Lang.
Enter to win a finished painting in a raffle! Food items will be available for sale by Dog & Spud, and gourmet coffees from Jacksonville Joe’s! There is no admission fee to the festival, it’s free and fun for the entire family!
